Amanda Darby, vice president of engineering at Azul Resources, is today's featured Forty Under 40 honoree.
Though Azul Resources is small but expanding, Darby isn’t afraid to tackle any project to help grow the company regardless of her job title, instilling a “lead-by-doing” approach to leadership.
“I’m building out the processes and models for evaluating investment opportunities, development planning, corporate reserves reporting and interfacing with accounting alongside our analysts so that we ramp up our operations [and] our business can run smoothly,” she said.
At the age of 25, Darby got the opportunity with Noble Energy to travel to Israel, working on a project that helped supply almost all of the country's natural gas and learning how to run oil and gas operations abroad and producing offshore gas day-to-day.
"It was also a big year for personal growth with spending half of the year in a foreign country away from my family and husband," she said. "I got to tour Jerusalem, float in the Dead Sea, scuba dive in the Red Sea, discover the Israeli wine regions and visit countless millennia-old historic sites."
Growing up northwest of Houston in Klein, Texas, Darby received her degree from the University of Texas, where she met her husband, Wilson. They live in Houston and enjoy traveling extensively.
