New Pipeline Capacity

As much as 103 billion cubic feet per day of pipeline capacity will be added to the national gas pipeline network between 2008 and 2010 if all current proposals are completed as designed and as scheduled, according to a forecast by the Energy Information Agency.

These projects could account for about 10,000 miles of potential new gas pipelines.

While not all projects will be approved or completed, the forecast indicates the increasing development of U.S.-based gas plays and the investor interest supporting those plays.

Investors will also have the opportunity to cash in on the new pipelines, whether through C-corp stock issuances or MLP unit offerings.

Please stay tuned for Oil and Gas Investors’ December 2009 issue, in which bankers, buysiders and pipeline company executives discuss details of those new projects and how they will shape the future of our national energy infrastructure.
