Texas And China Are Tops
According to a survey conducted by Development Counsellors International (DCI) recently, China and Texas were selected as the most favorable country and state, respectively.
More than half (53.2%) of the 281 U.S. corporate executives who responded to DCI’s survey named China as the most favorable country for overseas business expansion. India was second (45.1%), followed by Mexico (30.1%), the United Kingdom (25.4 %) and Canada.
Among those who named China as having a favorable business climate, the factors mentioned most frequently were; growing economy/business opportunities (53%), labor cost (41%), and low overall/operating costs (21%).
When asked to select the most favorable business climates among the 50 states, respondents gave Texas (40.8%), North Carolina (30.4%), and Georgia (20.4%), the highest tally. Tennessee and Florida were tied for the fourth position (15.2%).
Among those who named Texas as having a favorable business climate, the factors mentioned most frequently were; tax climate (31%), labor/workforce cost and availability (29%), and pro-business climate (26%).
California, New York, Michigan, New Jersey and Massachusetts were selected as the five states with the least favorable business climates.
