John A. Sullivan is the news editor for Oil and Gas Investor. A Louisiana native, John has 29 years of experience as a professional journalist, as news, features and business writer and editor at The Daily Advertiser (Lafayette, La.), The Daily Courier (Houma, La.) and The Ruston Daily Leader (Ruston, La.).
In 2004 he moved to Houston and was a writer with the Energy Intelligence Group bureau where he covered natural gas markets for Natural Gas Week, Oil Daily and Natural Gas Reconnaissance. He received his bachelor’s degree in journalism from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston. In 2002, John retired as a master sergeant from the Louisiana Army National Guard after serving 25 years and nine overseas deployments. His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Louisiana War Cross, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal and the NATO Medal. Since moving to Houston, John has become an active volunteer with the Houston SPCA and was named Volunteer of the Year in 2006 and he has one dog, a Shih Tzu named Rusty who he adopted from the SPCA.
