Nissa Darbonne is executive editor of Hart Energy Publishing’s Oil and Gas Investor group, which consists of Oil and Gas Investor magazine, and the newsletters A&D Watch and Oil and Gas Investor This Week. She joined Hart in 1998 after nine years in news reporting for The Daily Advertiser newspaper in Lafayette, Louisiana, the last two years as business editor. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Louisiana-Lafayette (aka The University of Southwestern Louisiana), where her studies were focused on journalism and English. Nissa has 24 years of professional journalism experience, beginning as a general news and features reporter for the USL/University of Louisiana-Lafayette student newspaper, The Vermilion, in 1984, and then working for two years as the Lafayette government and general news and features correspondent to The (Baton Rouge, La.) Morning Advocate. She has also co-written a book about ice hockey, The Louisiana IceGators Phenomenon, to which she contributed a business analysis. She is an amateur golfer and an informal student of monetary policy. Her copy of Alan Greenspan’s autobiography is peppered with margin notes, underlining, circling, personal commentary, and suggestions as well as a few editor’s marks. Greenspan admits in closing that the book is roughly a fifth-million words, so statistical probability suggests there are some typos in it. He writes, “I do not know where they are. If I did, they wouldn’t be there…My apologies in advance.” Nissa noted three.
